Required following the August exploit: Ravencoin Core v4.8.0 or later
A Ravencoin wallet stores the key to your RVN and—if it supports it—to your other assets. An exchange is not a wallet. Do not continue using old Core versions, never enter your seed phrase online, and do not leave your holdings on the exchange permanently.
The address starts with R. A Bitcoin address or an exchange memo address sends the coins into thin air.
1. What Has Changed in 2026
- Core v4.8.0 is the stable release: checkpoint set to block 4,487,775; fake KAWPOW blocks are discarded; asset transfer overflow fixed.
- Versions 4.6.x and 4.7.0 are not sufficient.
- Electrum-Ravencoin does not support Bitcoin Lightning.
- Ledger can hold RVN, but assets generally cannot be held via Ledger Live.
- Cobo, tZERO, Dove Wallet, and similar names from the old list are no longer our top recommendations.

Three rules: Download only from GitHub releases; verify the hash. Keep the seed on paper or steel. After the incident, synchronize and send a small test transaction.
3. Ravencoin Core v4.8.0
Reference Wallet: full chain, custom consensus rules, create and transfer assets.
Recommended if: you're mining, running a node, holding assets, or don't want to trust a third-party Electrum server.
Download: only from github.com/RavenProject/Ravencoin/releases/latest (currently v4.8.0). Verify the file's SHA256 hash. Do not use "wallet-download" sites.
Windows: Installer or win64.zip. macOS: osx-package (Builds may be unsigned—check the hash anyway). Linux: x86_64-linux-gnu.tar.gz, in which raven-qt.
The initial synchronization takes a while. Encrypt the wallet. The receiving address begins with R.
4. Electrum-Ravencoin
Lightweight wallet without a full blockchain. Releases: Electrum-RVN-SIG on GitHub.
Use your own server or a server you know. After the August incident, check the Balance and Assets tabs—not just your RVN balance.
5. Hardware
Ledger supports RVN via the Ravencoin app and Electrum-Ravencoin. Ledger Live generally does not display these assets. Trezor: Use it only if the current Electrum build actually lists the device—not out of habit.
6. Mobile and Multicoin

Mining payouts and asset management are still handled by Core or Electrum. Multicoin is the wallet for on the go, not the vault.
7. Web Wallet and Paper Wallet
Raven Rebels / wallet.ravencoin.se: Keys should not leave the browser. Still, only very small amounts; it's better to host them yourself.
Paper wallet: outdated, prone to errors, not suitable for day-to-day asset management.
8. An exchange is not a wallet
- Upbit will continue to distribute RVN only through November 11, 2026.
- After the August incident, deposits and withdrawals were suspended on several platforms.
- Do not send mining rewards to an exchange address.
Procedure: Send a test TX to your R address, then follow the rest of the steps. Use the purchase page.

11. Conclusion
In 2026, Ravencoin won’t need a list of 20 wallets. It will need Core 4.8.0 for serious use and Electrum-Ravencoin for everyday use. Ledger is tied to Electrum. Everything else is just a convenience—and that convenience was the first thing to go in August.
